Sunrise Registration
Last modified: July 1, 2026
Welcome to the Sunrise Registration of the eOffice® Network Domain Expansion
eOffice® Network (operated by eOffice Campus Networks, LLC) is expanding its professional domain namespace — the eoffice.com subdomain ecosystem — for licensing to qualified individuals and organizations. This document describes the Domain Expansion phases, eligibility requirements, registration rules, and your rights and responsibilities as a registrant.
Before registering, please review our Domain License Agreement, Domain Naming & Usage Rules, Domain Transfer & Change Policy, and Trademark Guidebook. By participating in any Domain Expansion phase, you agree to be bound by all applicable terms.
Domain Expansion Phase Overview
The eOffice® Network Domain Expansion features a phased rollout designed to protect legitimate rights holders first, reward our founding community, and then open to all members. The phases include:
- Verified Registration (VRA) — Always open for well-known people, places, organizations, and trademarks
- Community Sunrise Periods — Rolling windows for specific communities (campuses, cities, professions, trade categories, etc.) with priority access for community members
- Landrush — Premium registration with pre-registration and auction for contested labels
- Early Access Program (EAP) — Declining fee, first-come, first-served
- General Availability (GA) — Standard registration, first-come, first-served
Domain Classification Reference (eOffice® Network System)
The following table defines the internal classification structure used by eOffice® Network when evaluating domain labels. This system governs sensitivity, eligibility, and registration handling across all registration phases.
| Priority | Group | Tier | Category | Disposition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | A | 0 | System Reserved | HARD_STOP |
| 2 | A | 1 | eOffice® Registered Domains | HARD_STOP |
| 3 | A | 2 | Vulgarity | HARD_STOP |
| 4 | A | 3 | Illegal Drugs | HARD_STOP* |
| 5 | B | 1 | Nations & States — governments, heads of state, military, courts, IGOs | NEEDS_VERIFICATION** |
| 6 | B | 2 | Protected Groups — ethnic, religious, LGBTQ+, indigenous, disability | NEEDS_VERIFICATION** |
| 7 | C | 1 | Professional & Academic — universities, licensing bodies, research institutes | NEEDS_VERIFICATION** |
| 8 | C | 2 | Commercial IP — global brands, Fortune 500, trademarks | NEEDS_VERIFICATION** or AUCTION*** |
| 9 | C | 3 | Geography & Infrastructure — landmarks, parks, waterways, transit | AUCTION or PREMIUM_ASSET |
| 10 | C | 4 | Public Interest — public figures, historic events, treaties, disasters | NEEDS_VERIFICATION** |
| 11 | C | 5 | FDA Controlled Drugs | NEEDS_VERIFICATION** or LOCK**** |
| 12 | D | 1 | Premium Generic — high-value desirable generic terms | AUCTION or PREMIUM_ASSET |
| 13 | D | 2 | Technical / Structural — standards, protocols, scientific terms | CLEAR |
| 14 | E | 1 | Everyone — personal names, local businesses, startups | CLEAR |
*Illegal Drugs (Group A, Tier 3): HARD_STOP unless legitimate medical, academic, research, or public health context is clearly established (confidence >= 0.85). Examples: medical research, addiction treatment, pharmacology education, public health campaigns, law enforcement training, forensic science. In such cases, the domain is reclassified as CLEAR with override rationale.
**NEEDS_VERIFICATION: Applicant must complete the Verified Registration Application (VRA) process to submit a sworn claim.
***Commercial IP (Group C, Tier 2): NEEDS_VERIFICATION when the domain category matches the trademark owner’s registered classes and VRA is completed. AUCTION when the category falls outside owner’s classes, when multiple claimants exist, or when VRA is not completed.
****FDA Controlled Drugs (Group C, Tier 5): NEEDS_VERIFICATION when the drug name appears adjacent to .eoffice.com (applicant must complete VRA to submit a sworn statement of legitimate medical or pharmaceutical context). LOCK when the drug name appears elsewhere in the domain (held for internal review).
Classification Outcomes and Registration Phase Rules
The eOffice® Network Domain Classification System assigns a classification outcome (flag) to each domain label. These outcomes interact with registration phases to determine eligibility, priority, and handling rules.
| Classification Flag | Meaning |
|---|---|
| HARD_STOP | Prohibited terms including system-reserved labels, vulgarity, hate speech, and illegal drugs (unless legitimate context is established). Not eligible for registration under any phase. |
| LOCK | Domain contains a trademark or sensitive term that is NOT directly adjacent to .eoffice.com, classification confidence is insufficient to determine disposition, or the domain contains an FDA-controlled drug name elsewhere in the domain. Held for internal review. LOCK is the default status when ownership rights cannot be immediately verified. |
| NEEDS_VERIFICATION | High-confidence match to a protected entity (nations, states, protected groups, professional/academic institutions, trademarks, public figures, FDA-controlled drugs adjacent to .eoffice.com). Requires completion of the Verified Registration Application (VRA) process to submit a sworn claim. |
| AUCTION | Premium Generic terms, geography/infrastructure terms, trademarks OUTSIDE owner’s registered classes, or any term with multiple plausible claimants. Sold to highest bidder with indemnification. |
| PREMIUM_ASSET | A high-value Premium Generic term (Group D, Tier 1) or a notable geographic/infrastructure term (Group C, Tier 3) with no conflicting trademark claim. Available via special registration track with premium pricing. |
| CLEAR | No significant concerns. Standard registration pathway. |
Important: Classification outcomes are determined independently of registration phase eligibility. A domain may be classified as CLEAR but still be subject to phase-specific rules, and a domain classified as NEEDS_VERIFICATION may require a sworn statement regardless of phase.
Where conflicts exist between classification outcomes and phase rules, eOffice® Network applies the more restrictive condition unless explicitly overridden by board policy or reserved label designation.
Title + Name Detection
If a domain contains a title followed by a name that matches a known person holding that title, the domain requires a sworn statement regardless of context. Titles include royalty/nobility (queen, king, prince, princess, duke, duchess, lord, lady, sir, dame, emperor, empress, czar, sultan, sheikh, emir), religious (pope, cardinal, bishop, archbishop, imam, rabbi, ayatollah, dalai lama), state/government (president, prime minister, chancellor, governor, senator, representative, ambassador, secretary, chief justice, mayor), and military (general, admiral, colonel, commander, marshal, captain when military context).
Any title + name combination is classified as NEEDS_VERIFICATION and requires completion of the Verified Registration Application (VRA) process to submit a sworn claim. This applies regardless of whether the title is governmental, religious, military, or noble.
Protected Groups
Domains referencing protected groups — including ethnic and racial designations, indigenous nations, LGBTQ+ identity terms, disability designations, religious terms, caste designations, and immigrant or visa category labels — are classified as NEEDS_VERIFICATION. Applicants must complete the Verified Registration Application (VRA) process to submit a sworn statement of legitimate use.
FDA Controlled Drugs
Domains containing FDA-controlled drug names are subject to the following classification rules:
- Drug name adjacent to .eoffice.com: Classified as NEEDS_VERIFICATION. Applicant must complete the Verified Registration Application (VRA) process to submit a sworn statement of legitimate medical, pharmaceutical, research, or patient advocacy context.
- Drug name elsewhere in the domain (not adjacent to .eoffice.com): Classified as LOCK and held for internal review.
- Clear personal name coincidence: If a drug name coincidentally matches a personal name (e.g., “lyrica” as a given name), the domain may be reclassified as CLEAR with override rationale, provided the AI classification confidence is <= 0.50.
Legitimate contexts that support verification include: medical practice, pharmacy services, pharmaceutical research, patient advocacy, continuing medical education, public health campaigns, and clinical trials.
Trademark Position & Class Matching
When a trademark appears in a domain, its position relative to .eoffice.com determines handling:
| Scenario | Example | Flag |
|---|---|---|
| Trademark adjacent to .eoffice.com, category within owner’s classes | computers.brand.eoffice.com | NEEDS_VERIFICATION* |
| Trademark adjacent to .eoffice.com, category outside owner’s classes | pie.brand.eoffice.com | AUCTION |
| Trademark NOT adjacent to .eoffice.com, ambiguous category | brand.computers.eoffice.com, brand.ripe.eoffice.com | LOCK |
*NEEDS_VERIFICATION: Applicant must complete the Verified Registration Application (VRA) process to submit a sworn claim.
Note: A trademark that is not adjacent to .eoffice.com but appears with a category label that clearly falls within the owner’s registered classes may be classified as NEEDS_VERIFICATION rather than LOCK, depending on the confidence of the category match.
Well-Known Entities — Verified Registration (VRA)
Public figures, celebrities, well-known organizations, and verified trademark holders are classified as NEEDS_VERIFICATION under the eOffice® Network Domain Classification System. To assert their claim to an eOffice® Domain, these applicants must complete the Verified Registration Application (VRA) process, which requires a sworn statement.
The VRA process is always open. Well-known entities may register at any time — there is no deadline or specific window for VRA applicants.
Who must use this process:
- Public figures and celebrities (Group C, Tier 4 — Public Interest)
- Well-known organizations and institutions (Group C, Tier 1 — Professional & Academic)
- Verified trademark holders (Group C, Tier 2 — Commercial IP)
- Nations, states, and protected groups (Group B)
- FDA-controlled drug names adjacent to .eoffice.com (Group C, Tier 5)
- Anyone with a legitimate claim to a name that requires a sworn statement
How it works:
- Submit a Verified Registration Application
- Provide your legal identity, requested subdomain, and basis of claim
- Attest that your statements are true
- eOffice® Network relies on the sworn statement but does not verify its truth
- Upon submission and acceptance, the label is assigned active status
Important: If multiple parties claim the same label, or if the trademark falls outside its registered classes and no clear rights holder is established, the label may be reclassified as AUCTION rather than being approved through the VRA track.
Basis of claim: The VRA form requires applicants to describe their entitlement to the requested subdomain. This statement serves as the basis for eOffice® Network’s decision to issue a license. eOffice® Network relies on this sworn statement but does not independently verify the claim.
Trademark verification: Verified trademark holders may submit their USPTO or WIPO registration number as part of the VRA process. This enables priority consideration over Community Sunrise Periods claims on the same label.
Auction Pool — Contested Labels
When a domain label matches a known public figure, trademark, or other well-known entity, the applicant is classified as NEEDS_VERIFICATION and must complete the Verified Registration Application (VRA) process to submit a sworn claim.
If multiple parties claim the same label, or if the trademark falls outside its registered classes and no clear rights holder is established, the label may be reclassified as AUCTION. Auction is the neutral, market-based disposition mechanism for contested labels.
Examples: public.figure.eoffice.com, famous.person.eoffice.com, brand.eoffice.com — These labels are classified as NEEDS_VERIFICATION and require VRA submission. They are only reclassified as AUCTION if a sworn claim is not submitted or if multiple claimants emerge.
Indemnification language (displayed at auction registration):
“I acknowledge that eOffice® Network does not verify identity, does not adjudicate name disputes, and makes no representation that I am entitled to use this name. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless eOffice® Network from any claims arising from my registration and use of this domain.”
Personal Namespace (CLEAR)
A domain is considered a personal namespace and qualifies for standard automated registration (CLEAR) only when ALL of the following are true:
- No title from the Title Detection list is present
- No trademark with confidence ≥ 0.85 is present
- No public figure with confidence ≥ 0.85 is present
- No protected group reference is present
- No FDA-controlled drug name is present (unless coincidental personal name with confidence <= 0.50)
- The label is a common personal name or first.last pattern
Examples: elizabeth.eoffice.com, john.smith.eoffice.com, tom.eoffice.com — CLEAR (common personal names, no verified public figure match at ≥ 0.85 confidence).
If a personal name matches a known public figure with confidence ≥ 0.85, the domain is classified as NEEDS_VERIFICATION and the applicant must complete the VRA process. If a sworn claim is not submitted or if multiple claimants emerge, the label may be reclassified as AUCTION.
Reserved Labels — HARD_STOP
Certain labels are permanently reserved and are not available for registration under any phase. These labels return a HARD_STOP classification. Reserved categories include:
Operational labels — infrastructure labels used by eOffice® Network, including but not limited to: www, api, admin, dev, stage, mail, ftp, smtp, cdn, status, docs, and similar system-reserved terms.
eOffice® Registered Domains — domains already registered within the eOffice® Network namespace.
Vulgarity and Hate Speech — terms identified as vulgar, offensive, hate speech, or discriminatory through the eOffice® Network badword and hate speech screening systems. This includes any language that targets protected groups, promotes violence, or is otherwise prohibited by eOffice® Network content policies.
Illegal Drugs — terms identified as illicit substances, controlled substances without prescription, or drug paraphernalia, unless legitimate medical, academic, research, or public health context is clearly established (confidence >= 0.85).
Geographic labels — country names, capitals, major cities, U.S. states, and continents.
Sensitive generics (hard block) — regulated industry and high-trust terms including but not limited to: bank, law, legal, medical, pharmacy, insurance, gov, help, support, contact, login, pay, billing, certified, verified, official, approved, authorized.
Sensitive generics (restricted) — superlatives and quality terms including best, top, premier, elite, pro. Available only with board approval.
Bad words and drug names — maintained as standing databases by eOffice® Network for automated screening.
eOffice® Network reserves the right to add labels to any reserved category at any time. If a currently active license is affected by a newly reserved label, eOffice® Network will provide reasonable notice and a transition process.
Community Sunrise Periods
The eOffice® Network Domain Expansion features rolling sunrise periods for a wide range of communities. Each community — including large college campuses, small towns, major cities, large businesses, professions, and general trade categories — receives its own dedicated sunrise window. Community sunrise windows are announced on a rolling basis; specific dates for each community will be published they become available.
Well-Known People, Places, Organizations & Trademarks: These applicants may register at any time through the Verified Registration Application (VRA) process. There is no deadline or specific window for VRA applicants — the process is always open.
Priority access: During a community’s sunrise window, members of that community receive priority access to register labels within their community’s namespace. Membership in the community is the qualification — no separate invitation is required.
Status assigned: Upon successful registration, the label is assigned sunrise_claim status.
Subordination to VRA: If a VRA claimant files a claim on a label registered during a community sunrise, the community member’s claim will be displaced. By registering during Community Sunrise Periods, you explicitly acknowledge and accept this risk.
Displacement & credit: If your Community Sunrise Periods registration is displaced by a VRA claim, your registration fee will be converted to an eOffice® Network account credit, applicable toward the registration of any other available label. Community Sunrise Periods registration fees are non-refundable.
To request a sunrise window for your community, please use our Contact Form — it will be pre-set to Campus Activation for you.
Pre-Register Your Interest
Pre-registration is always open for Landrush and Early Access Program (EAP). Any eligible member may pre-register their interest in any available label at any time.
What pre-registration does:
- You will receive advance notices about the domain before it becomes available to the general public
- You will be notified if other parties express interest in the same label
- You will be ready to register when the domain becomes available during Landrush or EAP
What pre-registration does NOT do:
- It does not confer any rights to the domain
- It does not give you priority over community members during their sunrise window
- It does not lock in a price
- It does not prevent others from registering the domain
Priority: Community members have priority during their sunrise window. If a community has a sunrise window for a label you have pre-registered, members of that community may register the label during their window regardless of your pre-registration.
Landrush Period
Following the completion of all community sunrise windows, the Landrush period opens to all current eOffice® Network members at a premium registration fee. Pre-registered parties will be notified and given the first opportunity to claim labels they have expressed interest in.
Pre-register your interest: During the pre-registration period, you may express interest in any available label. If you are the only interested party, the label will be assigned to you at the premium fee. If multiple members express interest in the same label, the label will be assigned landrush_contested status and an open, ascending auction (English auction) will be triggered with a soft-close mechanism. All participants can see the current highest bid and place higher bids to compete. The auction will automatically extend when bids are placed in the final minutes, allowing fair competition. The highest bidder wins and pays their winning bid amount. Any proceeds above the base Landrush fee go to eOffice® Network.
Status assigned: Upon successful registration or auction win, the label is assigned active status and your eOffice® Domain goes live.
Early Access Program (EAP)
The Early Access Program bridges the Landrush period and General Availability. EAP is open to all current members on a first-come, first-served basis — contested labels are not subject to auction; the first eligible member to register the label will be assigned it. Pre-registered parties will be notified and given the first opportunity to claim labels they have expressed interest in. The registration fee declines on a published schedule, starting higher and reaching the standard GA fee at the end of the EAP window. EAP fees are non-refundable.
Pre-register your interest: During the pre-registration period, you may express interest in any available label. The fee in effect at the time of your pre-registration is the fee you will pay if the label is assigned to you. There are no price adjustments after pre-registration.
Status assigned: Upon successful registration, the label is assigned active status and your eOffice® Domain goes live.
General Availability (GA)
General Availability opens after the EAP window closes and continues indefinitely. Any eligible member may register any available label on a first-come, first-served basis at the standard registration fee.
Status assigned: Upon successful registration, the label is assigned active status and your eOffice® Domain goes live.
Depth Cascade Policy
A depth cascade applies exclusively to VRA registrations. It does not apply to Community Sunrise Periods, Landrush, EAP, or General Availability registrations.
When a VRA claimant successfully registers a label, eOffice® Network places a policy hold on all deeper paths under that label. For example, a VRA registration of brand.eoffice.com automatically places a hold on anything.brand.eoffice.com and all further levels beneath it.
This cascade is a policy hold by eOffice® Network — it is not a right granted to the claimant. eOffice® Network simply declines to license deeper labels to third parties without board review. Your license covers only the specific label path identified in your License Schedule. The cascade is a protective benefit of VRA registration, reflecting the legitimate brand protection interest of verified trademark holders.
For all other registration tiers, each label is an independent licensable asset. A registration of name.eoffice.com confers no hold or claim over john.name.eoffice.com or any other deeper path. Those labels remain available for licensing by any eligible party through the normal registration process.
eOffice® Network reserves the right to release any cascaded hold at its sole discretion following board review.
Dispute Procedures
eOffice® Network acts as a marketplace operator, not a trademark tribunal. We do not adjudicate trademark disputes between registrants or between registrants and third parties.
If a dispute arises regarding a registered label, the parties are expected to resolve it through their own legal counsel. eOffice® Network‘s role is limited to administering the license status of the label in accordance with the terms of this document and the Domain License Agreement.
eOffice® Network reserves the sole and absolute discretion to withhold any label from licensing indefinitely, without obligation to provide a reason. All registrants indemnify eOffice® Network against claims arising from any determination or non-determination regarding a contested label, as set forth in the Domain License Agreement.
License Status Definitions
The following status values are used to describe the state of any eOffice® Domain label throughout the Domain Expansion process and beyond:
sunrise_claimed — Label claimed by a community member during a Community Sunrise window.
landrush_contested — Label has multiple Landrush applicants; pending auction resolution.
active — License is in good standing. Domain is live.
suspended — License temporarily inactive due to a policy or payment issue.
revoked — License permanently terminated.
hold — Label is reserved and not available for licensing.
General Terms
All registrations made under the Domain Expansion are subject to the Domain License Agreement, Domain Naming & Usage Rules, and Domain Transfer & Change Policy. In the event of a conflict between this document and those documents, the Domain License Agreement controls.
eOffice® Network may modify the terms of the Domain Expansion, including phase dates, fees, and eligibility requirements, at its sole discretion. Notice of material changes will be posted to this page.
